About ECI
ECI was established in April 2002 as the apex Body of engineering profession in India by coming together of a large number of Professional Organizations / institutions of Engineers to work for the advancement of engineering profession in various disciplines and for enhancing the image of engineers, in society, by focusing on quality and accountability of engineers. Today there are 33 Indian Engineering Professional Associations/ Institutions as members, representing practically all major engineering streams and with 8 associated government departments’ nominees on its Board.

17th National Conference

The 17th National Conference of Engineering Council of India (ECI) on the Theme: ‘Role of Engineers in achieving Sustainable Development Goals’ which was held on November 29, 2019 at New Delhi was very successful and was attended by more than 200 participants.

The Engineering Council of India and its Member Associations greatly appreciates the support provided to this conference by all. It has helped ECI in a great measure in furthering its objectives to strengthen the engineering profession in the country so as to serve better the Indian industry and economic development.

10th Executive Development Programme

10th EDP programe on Project Management for Engineers successfully held from July 29 - August 02, 2019 at India International Centre, New Delhi. The The programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Dr. Ud

desh Kohli, Chairman, ECI, was the Project Director. 26 working engineers participated from both the public and private sector companies in the programme and appreciated it.

Eminent Engineer’s Award 2019

Engineering Council of India celebrated its 17th Foundation Day on 4th April, 2019.

Continuing its tradition, Eminent Engineers’ Awards in 2 categories- Industry and Research & Consultancy were also presented on this day. The high level Jury consisting of Dr. Kirit Parikh (Chairman), Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, Mr. B. Muthuraman, Mr. Mahendra Raj and Dr. D. V. Kapur selected: Professor Devang Khakhar is currently Director of IIT Bombay and Professor of Chemical Engineering, in the Research & Consultancy Category and Shri A. M. Naik is Group Chairman of Larsen & Toubro, in the Industry Category.

The Awards were presented by Shri Anil Baijal, Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi. In addition, ECI Chairman’s Commendation Trophies were also presented to Shri S. N. Subrahmanyan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro Limited (ECC) for Outstanding Engineering Achievement in the Construction Sector, Shri M. V. Gowtama, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for Outstanding Engineering Achievement in the Electronics Sector, Dr. Anoop K. Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director, NBCC (India) Limited for Outstanding Engineering Achievement in the Infrastructure Develop ment Sector.
