About ECI
ECI was established in April 2002 as the apex Body of engineering profession in India by coming together of a large number of Professional Organizations / institutions of Engineers to work for the advancement of engineering profession in various disciplines and for enhancing the image of engineers, in society, by focusing on quality and accountability of engineers. Today there are 33 Indian Engineering Professional Associations/ Institutions as members, representing practically all major engineering streams and with 8 associated government departments’ nominees on its Board.

19th National Conference and 21st Foundation Day Eminent Engineer’s Award 2022

The 19th National Conference of Engineering Council of India (ECI) on the Theme: “Role of Engineers in Accelerating Economic Growth” held on April 28, 2023 at New Delhi was very successful and was attended by a large number of engineers.

The Engineering Council of India and its Member Associations appreciates the support provided to this conference by all. It has helped ECI in a great measure in furthering its objectives to strengthen the engineering profession in the country so as to serve better the Indian Industry and Economic Development.

Engineering Council of India celebrated its 21st Foundation Day on 28th April, 2023.

Continuing its tradition, Eminent Engineers’ Awards in 2 categories- Industry and Research & Consultancy were also presented on this day. The high level Jury consisting of Dr. Kirit Parikh (Chairman), Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, Mr. B. Muthuraman, Dr. D. V. Kapur selected: Shri Ashish Kishore Lele, Director, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory in the Research/ Consultancy category and Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman, Praj Industries Ltd in the Industry Category. The Awards were presented by Dr. V. K. Saraswat, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, Government of India.

21st National Conference and 23rd Foundation Day Eminent Engineer’s Award 2024

The 21st National Conference of the Engineering Council of India (ECI), themed “Role of Hi-Tech Support for Sustainability and Skill Development,” took place on April 28, 2025, in New Delhi. The conference was highly successful and attracted a significant number of engineers.

The Engineering Council of India and its member associations would like to express their gratitude for the support received during this conference. This assistance has greatly contributed to ECI's efforts to strengthen the engineering profession in the country, allowing it to better serve the Indian industry and contribute to its economic development.

On the same day, the Engineering Council of India also celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day.

Continuing its tradition, Eminent Engineers’ Awards were presented in two categories- Industry and Research & Consultancy. A high level jury, consisting of Dr. R. A. Mashelkar (Chairman), Dr. S Ramadorai, Dr. Aniruddha Pandit, Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Dr. Tessy Thohas selected the award recipients: Dr. Anand Deshpande, Founder and Chairman, Persistent Systems and Prof. (Dr.) Ganapati D. Yadav, Bhatnagar Fellow & National Science Chair (ANRF/DST/GOI) as well as Emeritus Professor of Eminence. The awards were presented during the Inaugural Session by the Chief Guest, Mr. Suman Bery, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, and Chairman of Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council. The awards were followed by by the awardees' Acceptance speeches.

20th National Conference and 22nd Foundation Day Eminent Engineer’s Award 2023

The 20th National Conference of Engineering Council of India (ECI) on the Theme: “Emerging Trends in Sustainable Development –Vision 2030” held on April 29, 2024 at New Delhi was very successful and was attended by a large number of engineers.

The Engineering Council of India and its Member Associations appreciates the support provided to this conference by all. It has helped ECI in a great measure in furthering its objectives to strengthen the engineering profession in the country so as to serve better the Indian Industry and Economic Development.

Engineering Council of India celebrated its 22nd Foundation Day on 29th April, 2024.

Continuing its tradition, Eminent Engineers’ Awards in 2 categories- Industry and Research & Consultancy were also presented on this day. The high level Jury consisting of Dr. Kirit Parikh (Chairman), Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, Mr. B. Muthuraman, Dr. D. V. Kapur selected: Shri S. N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman & Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro in the Industry Category category and Prof. Pradeep Thalappil, Deepak Parekh Institute Chair Professor and Professor, Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in the Research/ Consultancy. The Awards were presented by Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Former Vice President of India.
